Instructions for use

Press the on/off button. The display will read 188.8. This means the thermometer is working properly. If the unit reads “Err”, it means there is an error. This could be a temporary internal error. Switch the unit off and try again.

Release the on/off button and the display will show "L°C" with the "°C" flashing. This indicates the thermometer is ready to take a measurement.

Once the "°C" sign on the display has stopped flashing, the alarm will sound, indicating that the temperature is ready to be read.

The unit will automatically turn off in 10 minutes. However, to prolong the life of the battery it is best to turn it off once the temperature has been taken.

To view the last taken temperature, press and hold the on/ off button for at least 3 seconds. The letter “M” will be displayed under the ° sign. When the button is released, the thermometer will be ready to use and the recalled temperature will be erased. Note: If the device is switched off while the display of "L°C" appears, the "L°C" will appear in memory if the button is held down.

How to check the bath water temperature

Please fit the anal thermometer into the toy fish and place the toy face up into the water to check the bath water temperature. The ideal bath water temperature is 36°C to 38°C.

Rectal use

Lubricate the probe with a lubricant jelly like petroleum jelly (vaseline) for easier insertion. Place the baby on his/ her stomach with his/ her legs hanging down, either across your knees, from the edge of a bed or over 2 pillows. This positions the baby's rectum properly for safe insertion of the thermometer. With one hand, separate the cheeks, and with the other hand, gently slip the tip of the thermometer about one centimetre into the rectum. Hold the thermometer in place until the °C sign stops flashing and you hear the beap signal. This process requires about 1 to 1 ½ minutes. A normal reading taken by this method is 36.7°C.

Underarm use

Wipe the baby’s armpit with a dry towel. Place the probe in the baby’s armpit and keep the baby’s arm pressed firmly against its side. Many people find hugging the child while taking the temperature helps assure it is taken correctly and also comforts the child. When using this method, hold the thermometer securely in place for 4 minutes. If the beeper signals prior to 4 minutes, ignore the beep and keep the thermometer in place for the full 4 minutes. A normal temperature reading is 36.7°C.

Precautions

Do not drop the unit.

DO NOT BOIL THE PROBE. Instead, clean the unit by wiping it with a dry cloth and sterilize the probe with ethyl alcohol.

Do not allow the unit to come into contact with any thinners or chemical solvents.

Do not store the unit in direct sunlight or at high temperatures.

Do not bend the probe more than 45° as damage may occur.

Do not attempt to disassemble the unit.

Keep out of reach of children.

Battery life

The battery can be used for 200 hours of continuous operation (approximately 2 years if used 10 minutes every day).

Accuracy

The thermometer is accurate to about 0.1°C between 35°C to 40°C.

Temperature range

Measurements can be taken between 32.0°C to 43.9°C. If the temperature is lower than the minimum, an “L” is displayed. If the temperature is higher than the maximum, an “H” is displayed.

Limited Warranty

This thermometer is guaranteed for 90 days from the date of purchase against manufacturer’s defects under normal use. If your unit does not function properly due to defective parts or assembly, we will repair it free of charge. All parts are covered by this warranty excluding the battery. The warranty does not cover damage to the unit due to manhandling of the unit and the resulting structural damage resulting in a defective unit.
